BTW, Nietzsche stated he did NOT believe in free will. For Nietzsche, there are strong and weak wills. Our will exists and struggles but it cannot be called “free,” only strong or weak. A free will has many metaphysical complications and is about choice. For Nietzsche we do not make choices, but instead our actions emerge from a conflict between inner wills. If my will to health is stronger than my will to eat junk food, then I will be more healthy. If the will to junk food and indulgence is stronger, I will be unhealthy. One of Griffith’s best moments in the manga was when he was captured calling out the perversions of the king. Despite knowing what was coming he didn’t plead or flinch.

I get it, I do, and I hate Griffith and believe what he did was entirely unforgivable, but I can't argue with the results. Guts: Lost an eye and a hand, watched his friend grape the love of his life, mortal, constantly struggling. Griffith: Became a sort of demigod, free from the effects of his heinous torture, seemingly immortal, essentially beyond struggle. Like I said, he's an evil sack of garbage, but he gets everything and pushes Guts back under the moldy sack of blighted potatoes he dropped on him during the Eclipse when things for start to look up.

The one scene that for me sums up his character perfectly was when he almost hurt Casca. The beast of darkness might be a legit entity, but it’s also a reflection of Guts’s subconscious. He’s a paradox between vengeful savage with no connections to weigh him down, and a thoughtful, even affectionate man who values every single relationship he has. Both those elements of his character are constantly vying for dominance, which I think perfectly highlights the themes of struggle and perseverance.

I like how in design guts is very different from Griffith the villain guts from the outside looks like a barbarian always wearing an armour his sword is a heavy lump of metal that swings and seems like he don't care about others but from the inside he cared about the band of the hawk and had a great relationship with Griffith that he was willing to fight the god hand to save him without fear or confusion and returned back to save the band and save Griffith after retiring meanwhile Griffith looks. Like a gentleman always wearing normal clothes except in battle his sword is a normal short sword and seem to be caring about the gang but from the inside he just sees them as tools to accomplish his dream and was willing to sacrifice all the band of the hawk just to get his gay batman suit and kept guts alive just to show him casca being graped. Imagine obeying a man you thought he was your friend fighting battles with him fighting beasts you don't know nothing about to save him for him at the end to betray you

Guts never graped Casca. He started choking her because of a flashback of Donovan graping him. But Guts stopped after he got his bearings back.

It seems like 90% of fans are certain that Spike dies, 50% of anime websites describing it are mostly pretty vague about it, while Watanabe is pulling a John Carpenter, and saying he doesn't really know wethwr or not Spike lived or died... and you know what?... I like that.
